Firm Background:
The firm was founded in 1952 by two attorneys who subsequently went on to become judges in Will County, Illinois. Michael Block joined the firm in 1970, and Winston Block joined the firm in 1971. Elizabeth Klukas joined the firm in 1993. Tom Manzella joined the firm in 2004. Bryan Shell joined the firm in 2009. Aaron Morrow joined the firm in 2018. Michael Block was appointed by the State of Illinois Supreme Court to the Committee on Jury Instructions in Civil Cases.
The firm has handled complex catastrophic litigation such as the Union Oil explosion; the Mobil Oil Refinery toxic leak affecting Channahon, Illinois; fatal argon exposure at Reynolds Metal Company in McCook, Illinois, and other cases. The firm was one of the first in the country to prove an immunologic injury as a result of a toxic exposure, in “Bandura v. Orkin Exterminating Company” in 1986. The firm was one of the first in Illinois to gain admissibility of Positron Emission Tomography results in brain injury cases. Joliet is an hour southwest of Chicago. The firm handles cases in Cook, Will and surrounding counties.
